Composites with modified resin systems to reduce not only the volumetric shrinkage, but also lower the stress at the composite-tooth interface. In addition, they are formulated to cure deeper than conventional composites. The usual depth of cure for products in this category is 4-5mm, but it is still prudent to cure for 40 seconds and perform supplementary cures from the buccal and lingual for 20 seconds. Finally, placing a 5mm increment of composite may cause voids at the cavosurface margins. Therefore, it may be prudent to place one increment of 2-3mm, massage this increment against the walls of the prep, then place another increment and cure both at the same time.
